Meet the Artist
Rubbish Designs was founded in 2005 by Kate Bligh. At the time of creation Kate was living and studying in South London (Art & Design foundation year at St Martins School of Art & Design, BA Graphic Design Camberwell College of Arts) It was one winter evening whilst creating reindeers out of scraps of old fabric and recycled paper for the annual family Christmas card that the name came to her and then the rest just followed...plastic bag snowmen, sheep made from shredded receipts (this design was originally intended to be a full animal nativity scene but never quite got there!) and then turning newspaper into wine for one of her latest designs!
Once finishing university Kate moved to Norfolk and spent just over a year working for Redwings Horse Sanctuary during which time 'Donkey' & 'Moorland Pony' were created. After moving on from horsey heaven Kate worked as a Graphic Designer for Norfolk's regional zoo before leaving in early 2009 to pursue Rubbish Designs whole heartedly.
Kate now lives and works in South Norfolk with her partner Tom, their rescue dog, Dalton (pictured right) and big ginger cat, Tubby.
